Welcome
to Wild About Agility Gold Coast - Agility Dog Club Inc. WAAG Agility Dog Club Inc is an affiliate of the Agility Dog Association of Australia Ltd- ADAA. Based on the Gold Coast in Queensland, we enjoy agility using positive training methods. Our objective as an agility club is to promote the sport of agility to all dog owners in the Gold Coast region. In doing this we also encourage the public at large to become more physically active and involve their pets more in fun activities in addition to increasing their awareness of the responsibility, enjoyment and satisfaction of owning a dog. You can read some media stories about our club and its members. We also have some inspiring short tales about the dogs and handlers who have benefited at WAAG from being involved in agility. Agility is a global dog sport that is growing in popularity in countries world wide. Agility at WAAG will welcome ALL dogs- both pure & mixed breeds; large & small; all shapes & sizes; as the photos on this page atest to. As long as your dog is fit and healthy, agility can be fun for both of you. The best way to find out if agility is for you and your dog is to come along and TRY it! Agility: the Ultimate of Dog Sports A team sport where you are in charge of the strategy and your dog is responsible for the athleticism. Dogs leap over hurdles, power through tunnels, zip through a slalom of upright poles and scale ramps of different sizes. The aim is to find the balance between the control of the dog and the speed of the performance. Scoring is based on faults, similar to equestrian show jumping. A handler who directs their dog to complete the obstacles correctly within the set time will earn a Clear Round. You can read about results of WAAG members at recent trials. Handlers and Dogs earn titles when they achieve a set number of clear rounds at trials. You can see the titles acheived by dogs belonging to WAAG members and meet the WAAG dogs in the photos on this page. Or visit ADAA website to learn more about ADAA agility.
